Trendy Transition: Summer Into Fall
With fall well under way, sure it’s time to break out the sweaters and scarves, but what about those summer items that you only got to wear once or twice? Well, one thing’s for sure—don’t let them collect dust in the back of your closet. With just a few additions, you can definitely work your summer favorites into your fall wardrobe. This season is all about covering up and layering. Bare legs are a big no-no, so leggings or tights are a sure must-have addition for fall. Re-use summer dresses by pairing them with some leggings, throwing on a cardigan, and accessorizing with a belt. Leggings are so versatile that you can even wear them with shorts or an oversized sweater. As for the men’s vests that JT made popular when bringin’ sexy back, simply wear them over a long sleeve this time around. Turtlenecks are also a good addition to wear underneath trendy crop jackets and even those summer tank tops. As for shoes, flats and pumps are still hot--but trade in your flip flops for some knee high or ankle boots.

The “In” Colors and Accessories: Big, Bold, and Beautiful

Lucky for us, it’s not just one, but an array of bright and bold colors that are actually in this fall. From denim to dresses, we’ll be seeing more electrifying blues, purples, pinks, and reds. The traditional plaid, tweed, and corduroy fabrics are still in style, but in addition to that, leather and velvet are making a comeback as well. Metallic colored accessories like silver and gold can make any everyday work or school outfit ready for the night life. If you really want to stand out, sequined or patent leather accessories are also additions that can add some spice to top off your fall wardrobe. Another new trend is jeweled accessories, and this season we see it everywhere from dresses to handbags to earrings. Just remember when trying out these new trends, not to go over the top. A sequined dress with jeweled earrings and jeweled handbag is doing too much. You would be better off sticking to one bold accessory to add to your classic fall outfit. Lastly, with oversized bags and sunglasses, bigger is still proving to be a lot better. Lucky for us, with stores like Forever 21, H&M, Express, and even Target, we could get the look for less without having to splurge at all.

A Not-So-Guilty Pleasure

Mossimo, Isaac Mizrahi, Michael Graves, and Sonia Kashuk are just a few of the many designers that have helped set Target apart from other leading supercenters such as Wal-Mart and K-Mart, by offering designer chic for super cheap. The newest addition? Marcia Kilgore--the founder and creative director of Bliss Spas and products, a favorite of many celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez, and Madonna. Now thanks to Kilgore's new beauty and skin-care product line "Soap and Glory," we can all look like a million bucks without having to spend it. The self-made mogul says it herself, "One of our new mottos is that you shouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg to moisturize one (or the other or both!)" As for me, even though the cutesy baby pink packaging did lure me over to check these goodies out, it was actually the oh-so-clever puns that convinced me to buy pretty much everything. With a shower gel named "Clean On Me," a bubble bath called "Calm One Calm All," and my personal favorite, a lip plumper titled "Sexy Mother Pucker," how can anyone resist? Oh, and did I mention they're all under ten bucks each? Now this is definitely a guilty pleasure that doesn't actually leave you feeling so guilty.

Beauty Brand of the month: AVEDA

To have a makeup brand that you trust to give you the flawless look you want is hard to come by. Aveda is making themselves quite a number of loyal customers due to their impressive line of products. With the release of some new colors, now is the best time to jump on the very environmentally friendly Aveda band wagon. Speaking as one of their loyal customers, I know my excitement for their new colors might be borderline lame, but with magazines like Allure and Oprah showcasing them as must-haves, I know my lameness is in good company. Aveda's Inner Life Dual Foundation is the must-have for all women this season. Blending is simple, and you get the most natural look everytime. To give your face a pop of color try their Petal Essence Face Accents. With the new colors for fall you will definitely find something perfect for your skin tone.
